The route of the wines and flavours
of the Maremma hills

North-east of the Grossetto area runs the wine and flavour route of the Maremma hills. This route winds through 13 municipalities, and quite apart from the breathtaking scenery, with views that sweep from the hills to the sea, it is renowned for the gourmet food and wines to be found in the area.
The main attractions are the six DOC wines scattered throughout the territory: Morellino di Scansano, Bianco di Pitigliano, Parrina, Sovana, Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario and Capalbio. This is also a land that produces excellent extra-virgin olive oil, and many of the restaurant-inns along the route offer free oil tasting to visitors.
